Mildred "Millie" Kolbet (1931-2017)
Sep 1, 2017Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn.She was born Jan. 3, 1931, in Protivin to George and Agnes Schneberger Vachta. She married Leo Kolbet on Feb. 16, 1949, at Holy Trinity Church in Protivin. He preceded her in death in 2008.Millie attended school in Protivin. She and her husband farmed for 50 years in the Elma and Alta Vista area and retired to Elma. She spent more than 20 years working with the residents at Comprehensive Systems in Elma, retiring in 2008. Millie was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Elma.Survived by: five children, Pat (Roger) Palmersheim of New Hartford, Sandy (Al) Tunis of Kansas City, Mo., Deb (Dan) Sturm of Cedar Falls, Garry (Donna) Kolbet of Waverly and Jon (Sean Dwyer) Kolbet of Portland, Ore.; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Jacoby of Des Plaines, Ill.; two brothers, George Vachta of Cresco and Ed Vachta of Wellman; and three sisters-in-law, Lois McAvoy of Elma, Lola (Bill) Boss of Charles City and Donna Kolbet of Osage.Preceded in death by: her parents; and a great-grandson.Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 23, at Immaculate Conception Church, Elma, with burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Alta Vista. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, March 22, at Conway-Markham Funeral Home, Elma, with a 4:30 scriptural wake service and a 7:30 p.m. rosary.
